I'm saddened to announce that our inspirational leader in the kitchen, Barry Liscombe, has made the decision to move on. As most will know, Barry has been at the Helm for us for over 15 years. Starting in the Dew Drop in 2008, moving to Hartes in 2010, to Ashtons in 2012 and more recently to the Ballymore Inn, Barry has inspired staff, managed our kitchens and has always produced the highest quality of food that we are now renowned for. He has been at the epicentre of everything we have done. Working closely together, we challenged the boundaries to seek out what a perfect Irish gastropub should look like, the proof of that is in the many awards and accolades that the pubs have won over the years. In more recent years I asked Barry to take on Firecastle. None of us knew exactly what was going to happen as the transition from hospitality into the retail space is quite different. Barry led by example & took to it like a duck to water and within 3 years the shop was named Shop of the year with Good Food Ireland. Barry has left no stone unturned in striving for excellence and his well-earned reputation precedes him.
Myself and all the team in The Hartes Group would like to wish Barry every success in the future as heads to pastures new. He will be missed hugely but our loss will be someone else's gain, and Barry will without doubt be an asset wherever he goes.
For everything you have done for us Barry, we thank you.
Paul Lenehan
